OWS, TOKYO?!

Ows, Tokyo?! duo is composed of Peabo and Pawawaw. The tandem started from their sensational self-produced youtube parody of 90's travel show cult classic Oh, Tokyo (see left column of this blog). Their show garnered a large following, most of them from the high profile fashion set. Presidential stylist and Preview Magazine stylist Liz Uy is a self-confessed fan. The show ran in numerous episodes and many iconic fashion insiders have appeared and rode with their impromptu and usually non-sensible mock interviews. Ows, Tokyo's  foray into music is something to look forward to.

MONO

Mono is Nixon Marquez, one of Preview's Top Ten Designers To Watch For. When asked to differentiate his fashion designer and dj persona, he shares, "I am a designer, and to become one, i think you need to have transition and continuity, it's like changing your designs but not completely missing the line. But as a Panty Monster dj, i would literally play anything i want. One moment i'm playing an indie pop-rock song and the next thing you know it's Katy Perry singing Fireworks. That's what i like about Panty Monsters, no boundaries, no rules, just play whatever and do whatever. "

RCXY

RCXY is one of the country's top creative fashion stylists and wishes to expand his creative pursuits through music. RCXY has been actively attending various parties since 1995 and has witnessed the evolution of Manila's underground/alternative subculture from the streetparties in Orosa in 1995, parties at the legendary ABG's in Pasong Tamo, Consortium series of parties, gigs at Club Dredd (then at Km.16) and Mayric's, to Streetlife, Fashion Cafe in Glorietta in the early 2000, to the decadent clubbing scene in Makati Ave, Pasong Tamo Avenue, Malate and more recently at Fluxxe, ILY X Future in Cubao X and at B-Side at The Collective in Makati. He shares, "What I like about Panty Monsters is that the attendees are coming from all walks of life and different sets of cliques and how different everyone may be, we are all bonded for our strong love for fashion and personal style. With many clubs imposing strict dress codes, Panty Monsters welcomes diversity and has a high respect on freedom of expression through fashion. We also get to listen to songs we secretly love which many mainstream DJs are afraid to play in many clubs" When asked to play in some clubs, Panty Monsters make sure that dress codes are waived and that anyone who wants to come in even in their underwear should be allowed to enter. RCXY's first DJ gig was at Panty Monsters Fried Edition at B-Side and his most successful set was teaming up with Mono at The Black Party in Malate.

BADAF PUNK

BADAF PUNK is the turntable duo which started the Panty Monsters tradition of playing fun, danceable, and campy gay tracks.  Xtina Superstar (right), hailed and acknowledged as the fashion muse to many recognized underground artists. She has been the subject of many photography exhibits and was featured at Exhibit No. 1 by Jujiin (2009), and at the Metroplitan Museum (2010) and White Space (2010) by international photographer Steve Tirona. This bleach-blonde stiletto-addict monster is the walking barbie of designer Gian Romano. Badaf Punk's other half, Jujiin (right), is another fashion scene character hailed by Metro Magazine, Preview Magazine and Mega Magazine as gay icon, as artiste extraordinaire and as most promising new talent. Jujiin is not only known for his eccentric fashion sense but also for his various creative exploration like photography, graphic art, installations and, of course, his music. Badaf Punk was one of the resident DJs of the now defunct FLUXXE, an alternative youth culture movement in Manila, and continues to play their kind of music every Thursday at Amber Ultra Lounge, The Fort.
